Stomadine-F Dental Gel
Stomadine F is a specially formulated g for the teeth and gums which helps maintain good oral hygiene in your dog and cat. As it is a gel, application is easier than conventional tooth brushing making effective long term oral care at home easier.
Stomadine F contains:
- Chlorhexidine
- Tris EDTA
- Phytosphingosine
- Safflower Oil
- Artificial beef flavouring to aid compliance
Its combination of active ingredients help to:
- Reduce bacteria that cause bad breath
- Fight the bacteria that help cause tooth decay and gum problems
- Slow the formation of plaque which contributes to tooth decay
- Soothe and reduce redness of the gums
Why might my pet need Stomadine F?
Just as we have to look after our own teeth, it is very important to care for your dog or cats teeth too.
Like ours, plaque and tarter can build up over time on your pets teeth. Without proper care, your pets teeth will begin to show signs of decay which can lead to a variety of teeth and gum problems.
Signs of teeth and gum problems include:
- Bad breath
- Red or swollen gums
- Discoloured teeth
- Trouble eating
Some of these problems may be relative minor and can be managed at home with proper care. However, the more progressed the problem, the more likely your pet will need to undergo some form of dental surgery.
If your pets teeth do require surgical intervention, such as a scale and polish or extractions, then it is important to keep the teeth and gums healthy afterwards to prevent the need for further surgery again in the future.
Types of teeth and gum problems
Over 80% of dogs and cats over the age of 3 will suffer from some form of periodontal disease. Bacteria live naturally in your pets mouth and will multiply on the surface of the teeth forming plaque.
Plaque builds up and creates tartar which in the early stages will lead to inflammation around the gum line (gingivitis).
Left unmanaged, this plaque and tarter will continue to build, eventually causing more advance periodontal disease.
How to give Stomadine F?
It is recommended to use gloves to apply.
Using your finger or the applicator included, apply the product between the lips and gums and gently massage in.
Apply 1-2 times per day.
Use initially for at least 2-3 weeks and then as required or as advised by your vet.
Stomadine F can be used after dental surgery, including scale and polish or extractions to help soothe the gums and maintain good long-term oral hygiene.
