Otodine is specially formulated to clean the ears and provide a strong antibacterial and action. If your pet has been diagnosed with a bacterial and/or a fungal ear problem then Otodine can be used to clean the ears before medicated drops are administered.
In cases where the ears are red and/or itchy, Otodine may be used on its own to clean and soothe the ears.
Otodine should be applied 5-10 minutes before the application of medicated drops. Where your vet is concerned about ongoing bacterial growth in the ear, Otodine can be used 2-3 times a week or as indicated by your vet, as a routine ear cleaner to keep your pet’s ears healthy.

Keeping your pet’s ears healthy
If you notice:
- Your pet is scratching their ears
- Your pet is shaking their head more frequently
- A strong odour coming from the ear
Then you should arrange a visit to your vet immediately as these are often the first signs of an
ear problem. Your veterinarian will examine your pet’s ears and will be able to identify the cause. Your vet may recommend ear cleaning at home as part of the management of the problem. The Nextmune Ear Cleaning range has been specially formulated to clean your pet’s ears and target the specific cause of the problem as identified by your vet. Using the correct ear cleaner will help to keep your pet’s ears clean and healthy.

How to clean your pet’s ears
1. Before you begin cleaning your pet’s ears, wash your hands and make sure your pet is calm and comfortable. You may want to clean their ears in a kitchen or bathroom with easy to wipe surfaces or place your pet on a towel to avoid spills on the carpet.
Tip: Ear Cleaning may be easier with two people so one can hold your pet still.
2. Gently fold back the ear flap to expose the ear canal and whilst holding the ear cleaner over the opening of the ear, gently apply enough solution to fill the ear canal.
3. After applying the solution, gently massage the base of the ear to distribute the ear cleaning solution as far as possible into the ear and to loosen wax and debris. You may wish to talk to your pet to reassure them and keep them calm.
4. The ear should be massaged for 10 seconds. Then stop and allow your pet to shake their head. Some solution may come out of the ear. Once your pet has finished shaking their head, take a cotton wool ball and gently rub the inside of the ear to remove dirt, debris and excess solution. Never use cotton buds as these may harm your pet’s ears.
5. Once you have finished, reward your pet with a tasty treat!
